Venturing through the Berkshire – Surrey borders, it cries out as the perfect setting for the illustrious game of Golf, and comes as no surprise to find distinguished neighbours such as Wentworth, Sunningdale, Swinley Forest and The Berkshire. In comparison with our neighbours, you could understandably anticipate others falling someway short, yet there is certainly no disappointment as you turn into the long tree lined driveway of Ascot’s Mill Ride Estate.
You are greeted by a landscape of perfectly manicured and cross cut fairways intermingled with lakes and the mounding and hollows which give this Championship Golf course a unique parkland design coupled with an inland links feel to the starting and closing holes.
Mill Ride’s former life as a prestigious Polo Club and stud of King Edward VII is in evidence as you are greeted by the Clubhouse. The lack of obvious road signage (until very near to the club) merely emphasises its select nature.
