am delighted to announce the appointment of Stewart
McMillan to the above newly created Senior position
to work alongside Head Greenkeeper Roy Hudson
in the upgrading of Golf course Standards, staff
output and impart considerable knowledge &
course construction experience to our redesign
projects at Mill Ride (such as 9th tee).
Stewart will be an excellent
addition to the team and his impact on the course
will, without doubt, be noticed by the members.
Stewart has a wealth of experience in both Golf
& Greenkeeping and has most recently been
working alongside his father, Jack McMillan MBE
as a golf course consultant. Currently, Stewart
is working with Ernie Els at Wentworth (since
October), constructing seven new tees and 33 new
bunkers on the famous West Course in readiness
for this years BMW PGA Championships & will
begin work at Mill Ride once the Wentworth project
is finalised.
Stewart has previously
held successful Course Manager roles at Quinta
do Lago, Portugal and at Leatherhead Golf
Club, as well as being promoted to Head Greenkeeper
at Bush Hill Park at the age of only 23 having
been First assistant at South Herts. He plays
golf of a Handicap of 10 ( – a pre-requisite
in light of May’s Inter Club team competition.
