General Conditions of Entry for Mill Ride Golf Club Competitions

1) All Mill Ride Golf Club events shall be played in accordance with the R&A Rules of Golf and Local Rules as approved.

2) All competitors must be:

i) Of Amateur Status as defined by the R&A.

ii) In possession of a WHS handicap index under the current WHS Handicapping Scheme and not exceeding that determined by Mill Ride Golf Club as a condition of entry for each specific event.

3) Entry

i) All entries must be fully completed, accompanied by the correct fee and received by the specific event closing date.

ii) No entry fee will be refunded unless notice of cancellation is received before the closing date for entries except for any entrant who may be balloted out and who does not subsequently compete.

iii) All entries shall be subject to the approval of the Competition Committee which reserves the right to accept or refuse an entry giving reason for its decision, which shall be final.

iv) Players must register before playing. Please see the procedure on the Specific Conditions of Competition. Any player not registered before starting their round will be deemed NOT to have played in the competition.

4) A player arriving no more than 5 minutes late for their appointed tee off time will receive the general penalty applied to his or her first hole. A player arriving more than 5 minutes late will result in disqualification. If a player is not present at all and has not notified the Competition Committee they may face disciplinary action as the Competition Committee sees fit.

5) Scorecards must be submitted according to the specific conditions applying to that event.

6) Players must play with another competitor or, if a marker is to be used, that marker must be a member. If a marker is to be used permission must first be given by the professional Shop. In team events, unless specified by the Competition Committee the marker must not be a member of the team that he/she is marking for.

7) Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Competition Committee. Except in cases when competitors claim exemption under the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Acts 1995 & 2005 by producing a Medical Certificate signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner. Medical Certificates must be provided to the Secretary not less than 5 clear days prior to the start of the competition. Competitors shall always be responsible for providing their motorised buggy/trolley. Penalty for Breach of Condition is Disqualification.

8) Competitors and their caddies must observe club dress rules.

9) All ties will be decided on the last 18, 9, 6, 3, or 1 hole in that order, unless a tie still results in which case the last 6, 3, or 1 hole of the first 9 will count. Except in those competitions where a play-off over holes to be decided will take place, followed if necessary, by a ‘sudden death’ play-off. Please see the Specific Conditions of Competition.

10) All competitors are required to play with golf balls which are on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Penalty for Breach of Condition is Disqualification.

11) The driving club the player carries must have a clubhead, identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Penalty for Breach of Condition is Disqualification.

12) Any competitor who, during the course of an event, including practice days, misbehaves by, for example, swearing, throwing clubs, or vandalising the golf course or clubhouse, or acts in any manner which might bring the game into disrepute may be barred from entering or taking part in any Mill Ride or  BB&O event for such period as the Competition Committee may see fit.

13) Competitors shall, at all times, be liable for the actions of their caddies and shall ensure that the caddies comply with the Conditions as they apply to the competitors.

14) Competitors must return their score cards. Players Not Returning a score card will be liable for a penalty score of a nett double bogey for each hole not played.

15) All disputes will be settled by the Competition Committee.

Conditions of Play in addition to General Conditions for Mill Ride Competition

a. Restricted to Players with a handicap index of 54  or under at the closing date.

b. Eligible by having played enough qualifying competitions as stated in the conditions of entry for that event.

c. To enter, players must enter online, through the app or via the Pro Shop.

d. The closing time and date for entry is normally 3 days before.

e. When entries exceed a total of 120 in number, players will be eliminated by ballot on a first come first served basis and the entry fee refunded. The Committee may, at any time and at its discretion, extend the closing date for entries and in such cases the ballot will be held on that date regardless of when entries have been received. (A club might like to ballot on handicap – especially for the Club Championship etc)

f. The event will be played off a playing handicap in accordance with WHS rules.

g. The event shall be decided by stableford/medal.
